3. Why is virtual tutoring better than an actual tutor?

Virtual tutoring is better than a real tutor because you don’t have to leave home to get all the benefits of a tutor and more. There are more ways students can learn.

- The interactive whiteboard allows both tutor and student to jot down problems and images, just like a real blackboard.

- Educational web sites can also be looked at by either party. Tutors can show students exactly where to go on the internet and what information will be able to help them.

- Computer programs such as Word and Excel can also be opened so that papers and math spreadsheets may be analyzed by the student and tutor.

4. What makes your site different from the rest of the online tutoring sites?

Our site is different because it’s not just online, it’s a virtual classroom. Other online tutoring sites offer only an IM interface for communication, taking a much longer time for the child and tutor to communicate. NRG gives you video and voice links so that both parties can see and hear each other, just as in real life. This approach improves the chances of the students learning and it lets them pack more tutoring into learning sessions.

6. How qualified are your tutors?

7. What kind of interface can I expect my child to see if we subscribe to your service?

When you subscribe to NRG Tutoring, your student will see a computer application showing a video of the tutor, volume controls, and a large whiteboard. If the learning session contains a web site, the whiteboard will minimize and the chosen website will take its place. When a program such as Word or Excel is being used, the chosen program will occupy the part of the screen where the whiteboard usually is.

3. What if I want a refund?

If you would like to inquire about getting a refund for a particular learning session, you may contact us.

All learning sessions are monitored and saved in NRG Bridge's internal system, so we can always go back and review the session in question. If there is a valid reason to refund your money, we will be more than happy to do that.

Please note that communication problems on the student's end resulting in the loss of time in a learning session will not be refunded. If the error is on the part of NRG Bridge, we will review the error and offer a refund. Your internet connection should be at least 56K, but we recommend a high speed connection.

2. Do I need an internet video camera (webcam)?

We strongly encourage you to use an internet video camera, as that makes the experience more personal. By looking at the student, most tutors will be able to gauge how well he or she is grasping the concept.

3. Do I need a microphone for the computer?

We strongly encourage you to use a computer microphone because we believe that this is the fastest and most effective avenue for communication. We do not want to charge you on the basis of how quickly your child or our tutor takes to type. We want your child to learn effectively by being able to listen to their tutor as well as have time to take notes.

If there are technical issues during a learning session, be it from our computer or yours, we will be happy to refund you the amount of money commensurate with the amount of time lost during the session. Please contact us.

5. What kind of websites will the tutor be able to show my child?

Tutors may want to show their students a website for a number of reasons. Your student may be writing a research paper and looking for resources online, or he or she could be struggling with a scientific concept that a website may be able to visually illustrate. Websites of questionable content may not be shown at any time, and this is stated in every tutor’s contract here at NRG.

6. What kind of computer applications will the tutor be able to show my child?

The computer applications that will most likely be shared in a learning session will be applications that your child uses the most frequently at school. Among the most popular are Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
